News Notes: Man arrested at McD’s for theft, drugs
By Mike BergerA Stoughton man is facing theft and drug charges after being arrested at McDonald’s in Canton on Monday, September 16, around 5:30 p.m. Police charged Ryan J. Breen, 21, with 13 counts of receiving stolen property and possession of class A and class E drugs. Deputy Police Chief Helena Findlen said Norwood police had asked Canton officers to assist in a warrant arrest, and police had reason to believe that Breen would be at the restaurant. Police searched his car and found the stolen items and evidence of drugs. Assisting in the investigation were Officer Sean Becker and Lt. Tom Keleher Jr.
Life is good Festival goes off without incident
There were no major incidents to report at the fourth annual Life is good Festival, held this past weekend at Prowse Farm in Canton. The Fire Department had four ambulance runs for minor injuries and allergic reactions. Police estimated the weekend crowd to be between 22,000 and 25,000 people.
Car hits house on Neponset Street
An unidentified driver was transported to Norwood Hospital for minor injuries after hitting a house on Neponset Street on Wednesday, September 18, around 4:30 p.m. Fire Lt. Donald Lester said the building inspector was called to the scene but found no serious structural damage.
Firefighters called to Milton house fire
Four Canton firefighters were sent to help Milton firefighters put out a house fire on Sunday, September 22, at 3 a.m. Firefighters assisted in extinguishing the fire and with overhaul operations, according to Fire Lt. Donald Lester. Canton firefighters remained on scene for over two hours before returning to the station.
