Sophomore runner finishes among top 20 at D4 meet
By Canton CitizenCHS sophomore Catherine Song finished 17th out of 157 runners in the Division 4 Eastern Mass. Cross Country Championships held November 9 at the Wrentham Development Center.
As a unit, the CHS girls’ cross country team finished 11th out of 22 teams. Song ran the five-kilometer race n 20 minutes and 11 seconds.
Other Canton finishers included senior Amanda Eagles, 31st, 20:41; senior Courtney Loughnane, 79th, 22:08; junior Julia Guerini, 81st, 22:08; junior Kerin Sennett, 22:28; senior Michaela Kelly, 22:49; and senior Alyssa Wysocki, 23:17.
The boys’ team finished 23rd out of 24 teams, with junior Spencer Polsgrove finishing as the top Canton runner and 116th overall with a time of 18:56.
Also competing for Canton were senior Joe Clancy (19:02), sophomore Courtland Priest (19:22), senior Matt Derbin (19:28), and juniors Caleb Morrison (19:36) and Brian Rota (19:37).
