Galligan, Donald G.
By Canton CitizenDonald G. Galligan, 53, died November 13, 2013, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Norwood on February 17, 1960, he was raised in Canton and has been a resident of Weare, New Hampshire, for the past 13 years. Mr. Galligan worked as a carpenter recently with Cobb Hill Construction of Concord and many other firms over a span of 35-plus years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching youth soccer, softball and helping with the John Stark Generals Football Association.
Donald will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, six children and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret (Gubbins) Galligan. Members of his family include his wife, Michelle A. (Bartolomei) Galligan, of Weare; six children: Kasi Allison Rodahl and her husband, Travis, of Nevada, Toni Allison Justet and her husband, Jesse, of Utah, Dustin Allison of Texas, Noelle Galligan, Kaelyn Galligan, and Evan Galligan, all of Weare, NH; two grandchildren, Tessa and Penelope; his father, Gerald Galligan Sr.; five siblings in Massachusetts: Gerald Galligan Jr., Joseph Galligan, Kathleen Galligan, Susan Kane, and James Galligan; several nieces and nephews; three surviving aunts; 44 first cousins; many extended first and second relatives; and many close friends.
Donald knew from the time he was very young he wanted to be a carpenter rather than attend college. He attended the JFK Elementary School, Galvin Middle School, and then Blue Hills Regional Technical School. His passion in building both in the commercial and residential areas is reflected throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He was also very active volunteering with his children in his spare time at a farm with horses (another passion) and assisting in Concerts for the Cause for his wife’s work at the NH Foster & Adoptive Association in New Hampshire, of which one held on November 22 was dedicated in his memory with family members present.
Private services were already held in New Hampshire on November 19 and 20 by the funeral home and St. Lawrence Church for family and friends, with a memorial mass to be determined later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TD Bank in the name of The Galligan Family Fund and/or the NH Foster & Adoptive Association, P.O. Box 3572, Concord, NH 03302.
