Business of the Month: Buffalo Lodging

I spoke with Mr. Ron Kendall, president of Buffalo Lodging, which owns and operates over 41 hotels along the eastern seaboard. I knew Ron was a hands-on guy right away when he presented himself in civilian clothes. They had been moving furniture and equipment that day.

The Homewood Suites hotel is located on Royall Street in Canton, and many of the hotel’s clients are local businesses whose out-of-town employees/guests require lodging for days or weeks at a time. The hotel has 100 rooms along with a workout room and a nice swimming pool. Rooms are suite style, ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. They also offer handicap-accessible rooms. A beautiful conference room is also available as well as breakfast and coffee facilities.

Unlike many other hotels that farm their operations out to independent operators, Buffalo Lodging manages all of its own properties. The company is aware of the environment and runs clean and efficient hotels, like the immaculate Homewood Suites in Canton. Being a good neighbor and giving back to the communities in which they own hotels is important to them.

Buffalo Lodging has been a good neighbor in Canton. It is a member of the Canton Association of Business and Industry (CABI) and has donated approximately $50,000 in fitness equipment to the Canton Police and Fire departments and to Canton High School. At the annual Reebok/Canton Road Race held in October, Buffalo Lodging sponsored runners’ bibs and also sent its mascot, “Lewis the Duck,” to entertain the children running in the kids’ race.

The company has made donations to various Canton organizations, including Journey Forward, the Massachusetts Hospital School, and the Canton Community Theatre. It has also donated rooms for public hearings, most recently involving Canton High School and Blue Hills Regional School for meetings and negotiations.

Buffalo Lodging & Homewood Suites likes to be able to provide a room for the public need. The company has been a valuable corporate citizen and is a deserving choice for Canton Business of the Month.
