Timmons, Thomas F.
By Canton CitizenThomas F. Timmons, Sr., 94, of Canton, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away March 4 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Newton, he graduated from Newton High School, Suffolk University, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for the city of Newton for many years in the Recreation Department before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #157 in Newton and the American Legion Post #440 in Newton. He enjoyed going to mass, dancing, the ocean, and playing poker with his buddies.
Beloved husband of the late Edna (Powers). Father of Barbara Vito of Norwood, Debbie Weckesser of Hanover, Donna Sola and her husband, Anthony, of Dedham, Thomas F. Timmons, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of West Roxbury, Michael Timmons and his wife, Sharon, of West Roxbury, Richard Timmons and his wife, Cindy, of Franklin, John Timmons and his wife, Patricia, of Canton, and Susan Sullivan and her husband, Stephen, of Canton. Also survived by 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday, March 6, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton Friday, March 7, at 9 a.m. Burial VA National Cemetery, Bourne, Friday at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St., Newton, MA 02458-2597.
