Quinn Merrigan squares off against Christian Monserrat at All States.

Coming off his historic run to the All-State wrestling finals, Canton High School senior Quinn Merrigan made history once again this past weekend in Providence, becoming the first Bulldog wrestler to ever compete in a New England Championship finals match.

Merrigan, the two-time defending Division 3 state champion in the 138-pound class, defeated Brandon Levesque of New Hampshire, David Colvin of Connecticut, and Max O’Connell of Rhode Island before falling to Christian Monserrat of Methuen in a rematch of the All-State finals.

Merrigan finishes his Bulldog career second on the all-time wins list behind only classmate Chris Sullivan, who also wrestled at the New England tournament. Sullivan, the D3 state champion at 152 pounds as well as an All-State finalist, defeated his first opponent before losing in overtime to the eventual New England champion, Christian LaBrie of Rhode Island.
