CHS cheerleaders headed to nationals
By GuestOn Sunday, March 9, the incredibly talented CHS varsity cheerleaders made program history with a third-place finish at the Winter Cheerleading State Championship, earning a bid to the U.S. Spirit National Championships, scheduled for March 28-30 in Orlando.
This achievement was the direct result of the team’s commitment to excellence and passion to perform at their personal best, representing Canton High School and the town they love and call home.
Throughout the school year the cheerleading team practices five times a week to perfect their performance and provide unrelenting motivational support at all football and basketball games regardless of the weather or missed social opportunities. Over the years cheerleading has evolved to athletic levels as it includes tumbling, stunts, jumps, and dance — only to be attempted by professionals.
The team does an incredible job sponsoring fundraisers, such as car washes, recycling drives, etc. to fund the needs of the team. However, it has been decades since the team earned the privilege to compete at nationals.
In just two short weeks, the CHS cheerleaders have the unenviable task of raising $25,000 to fund this event. From now until March 27, 100 percent of all donations made to the CHS Athletic Booster Club and marked for “CHS Cheer Nationals” will go directly to the cheerleading team to fund this event.
Checks can be made payable to “Canton High School Athletic Booster Club” (Memo line: CHS Cheer Nationals) and mailed to Val Baker, 50 Eagle Drive, Canton, MA 02021.
For more information, contact Coach Val at 781-603-6469 or coaches@cantonhighcheerleading.com.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of the Canton High School varsity cheerleaders — Canton’s finest.
