CABI asks residents to vote ‘Yes’ on ballot question

By

Dear Editor:

The Executive Board of the Canton Association of Business and Industry (CABI) would like to ask the citizens of Canton for their support with a yes vote on the April 8 ballot question. This would provide commercial and industrial businesses with a $100,000 property exemption on the CPA tax, similar to what is currently offered to residents. This exemption was not available at the time the CPA was voted by the town in November 2012.

In 2013 Canton businesses contributed over $22 million in annual taxes, representing 37 percent of the total town annual revenue. CABI has been committed to the town of Canton for over 40 years with over $300,000 in donations to the Police and Fire departments, Canton High and Blue Hills Regional scholarships, Canton Food Pantry, and Mass. Hospital School. Our organization unanimously supported the recent tax override for schools and municipal departments and is committed to a strong, vibrant community at all levels in the future.

Both the Canton Board of Selectmen and the CPA Committee support a yes vote on this ballot question, and we respectfully request your consideration as well. On behalf of our 100-plus member companies, thank you, and we greatly value and appreciate our partnership with the leadership and residents of the town of Canton.

Sincerely,

CABI Executive Board
