Canton hockey duo wins D3 Mini 1-on-1 title

The Canton Squirt mini team of Liam Polles and Patrick Morrissey defeated Brookline to capture the District 3 Mini 1-on-1 championship on Saturday, March 29, at Metropolis Rink in Canton.

Mini 1-on-1 is a youth hockey program in collaboration with USA Hockey, the Boston Bruins, NESN and TD Bank. Mini teams consist of one goalie and one shooter who compete in a shoot-out style competition in their specific age levels and regions.

The Canton duo went undefeated in the District 3 tournament with very solid goaltending from Polles and sharpshooting from Morrissey to hold off great competition from eight other towns. The next stop for the pair is a bracket-style event at the TD Garden in September. The competitions are featured on NESN during Bruins broadcasts and in-arena during Bruins game intermissions.
