Canton Garden Club prepares for busy spring season
By Canton CitizenThe Canton Garden Club is busy preparing for several upcoming events.
On Friday, April 25, the Garden Club will hold its annual Arbor Day tree planting at the Canton Police Station beginning at 2 p.m. An additional dogwood tree will be planted beside the existing dogwood, previously planted by the club for all to enjoy. The event will be held rain or shine and the public is welcome to attend.
A few weeks later, on Saturday, May 17, the Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Canton Public Library. Members subdivide and re-pot perennials from their own gardens and friends’ gardens for this sale. They also create herb gardens and other arrangements, along with geraniums and vegetables. There will also be two master gardeners on site to answer any questions that guests may have about their own gardens.
You may also pre-order geraniums in trays of 10 in either red, pink or white for $40 by calling Vicky Chaisson at 781-828-0706. Geraniums can either be picked up or delivered to your home.
The profit from the plant sale will be used for town plantings and for scholarships.
Lastly, on Monday, May 19, the Garden Club will hold its annual meeting and luncheon at the Hoosic Club. This meeting is for members only and is the final meeting until the club reconvenes in September. Anyone interested in joining is also invited to attend. Check the Canton Citizen Datebook for details.
