By Canton CitizenWarren H. Holmes, 88, of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Canton, died peacefully on May 17, 2014.
Warren was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific with both his brother and father. He worked as an automotive electrical repair mechanic in Canton for many years and later owned Cedar View filling station in Green Harbor. He was a member of the Blue Hill Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Canton.
Devoted husband of the late Mary E. Holmes (Gelpke). Loving father of Gary R. Holmes of Canton, Janice C. DaSilva and her husband, Jay, of Holbrook, and Randall H. Holmes of Enfield, CT. Twin brother of Wesley Holmes of CT and the late Virginia Alsworth. Proud grandfather of Daniel Holmes, Katherine Orlowski, Michael DaSilva, Brian DaSilva, Jill DaSilva, Julia Holmes, and Tyler Holmes. Proud great-grandfather of Cooper and Penelope DaSilva and Christopher Orlowski.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 30, in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren’s memory to the Hope Healthcare Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
