Gorny, Edward A.
By Canton CitizenEdward A. Gorny, 88, of Canton, passed away June 8 at Kindred Hospital in Boston.
Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, he entered the Navy at the age of 17 and served aboard the USS Oakland during World War II. He worked as a car inspector foreman for PATH (Port Authority Trans Hudson) in New Jersey for many years before retiring in 1988. He has lived in Canton since 2003 and previously lived in Iselin, NJ. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and working with his model trains and displaying his department 56 Christmas Collection. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Matt Kelly’s Pub in Canton.
Beloved husband for 65 years of Florence T. (Lewandowski). Father of Theresa A. Weber and her husband, Robert, of Canton. Grandfather of Tiffany Giglio and her husband, Robert, of Canton, Bryan Weber and his wife, Lindsay, of Stoughton, and Scott Weber of Canton. Great-grandfather of Grace and Faith Giglio and Cameron and Cali Weber.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Friday, June 13, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Saturday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. Burial private. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veterans Service Department, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
