UCC Canton grateful for support following fire
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
The United Church of Christ in Canton sends heartfelt thanks to the Canton Fire and Police departments for their rapid response to the dumpster fire on our church grounds late Tuesday night, June 3. We are also grateful to the Merrigan family who spotted the flames when driving by and immediately called 911. Due to everyone’s quick and thorough actions, actual fire damage was limited to one area, with smoke fumes and soot being the primary concern in the rest of the building.
We also wish to thank Fire Chief Charles Doody, Building Commissioner Edward Walsh, and the other town officials and employees who are being so helpful with assisting us to move effectively through our recovery and restoration process in a safe and timely manner.
In addition, we are indebted to Maria Cammarata, director of the Canton Community Kindergarten Preschool, and her entire staff for their dedication and tremendous work on behalf of their students and our church in this situation, as always. We are appreciative as well for the patience, flexibility, and support of the CCK families in response to these abrupt and urgent circumstances. They’ve been great.
We thank God and each of those who have been assisting us for their efforts and support through this challenging period in the life of our church. Together we will prevail.
Sincerely,
Congregation of United Church of Christ in Canton
