Former Bulldog standout commits to Assumption
By Canton CitizenCanton High School alumnus Pat Ward has committed to Assumption College, where he will play lacrosse and hockey. Ward, a 2013 CHS graduate and a former Bulldog hockey and lacrosse captain, recently completed a post-graduate year at the Kents Hill School in Maine.
Ward had a tremendous four-year experience at CHS. As a freshman, Ward’s last-second goal in the state hockey semifinals helped propel the Bulldogs to the Division 2 championship game, during which he assisted on the game-winning goal that gave Canton its first ever state title.
He capped off his CHS experience as a senior with two stellar seasons in both hockey and lacrosse. His 17 goals and 15 assists in hockey helped the Bulldogs win their third consecutive Hockomock League title with a 10-0-0 league record.
In the spring of 2013, Ward’s remarkable 67 goals and 10 assists helped lead the CHS lacrosse team to the Division 3 state semifinals in the program’s finest season in history. These accomplishments earned Ward the CHS and Canton Citizen male athlete of the year awards.
