By Canton CitizenFrancis C. Hellmuth, 80, of Canton, died Wednesday morning, June 4, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton after a lengthy illness.
Born, raised and educated in Boston, he was the son of the late Cal Hellmuth and Mary (Grenham-Hellmuth) Semler. He has been a Canton resident since 1957.
Mr. Hellmuth worked at W.R. Grace (formerly Emerson and Cuming) for 33 years. In 1992 he became employed with the commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Registry of Motor Vehicles as a special investigator with the Fraud and Excise Division, retiring in 2010.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Hellmuth served as a corpsman in the Air Force.
He was a coach of Canton’s Pop Warner Football League in the early start of the organization. Mr. Hellmuth was a member of the Retired Men’s Club.
Mr. Hellmuth is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine “Kay” (Pignato) Hellmuth, his children, Frank E. Hellmuth and his wife, Lynn, of North Carolina, Cheryl Jarossy and her husband, Mark, of Florida, Jeff Hellmuth and his fiancée, Lisa, of Foxborough, and Kim Hellmuth of Canton. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Ann Burnett and Whilemina McMahon.
A funeral service in celebration of Francis’ life was held at the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Canton. Interment with honors at Knollwood Memorial Park.
