By Mike BergerDPW Superintendent Mike Trotta outlined the paving schedule and the details of the rotary redesign for Pleasant Street over the remaining weeks of the summer. Paving and the replacement of manhole covers, which began last week from Washington Street to Sherman Street, is continuing and should be completed by next Tuesday or Wednesday, July 30 or 31. Paving will then continue on Pleasant Street during the first week of August from Sherman Street to Devoll Field (the location of the new rotary). The actual redesign of that intersection will begin sometime in August and last four to five weeks, with an expected completion date sometime in September.
CFD uses Sherman St. building for training
The Canton Fire Department would like to thank John Dello Russo of C&J Development Ventures LLC for allowing the department to use 665 Sherman Street, the old Canton Taxi building, for training exercises last week before the building was demolished. Firefighters practiced removing a downed firefighter from a basement using a pencil ladder, wall breaching, venting, and search and rescue. Pictured here is firefighter Frank Walsh, the newest member of the CFD, learning a wall breaching technique as part of his two weeks of orientation training.
