Turnpike Cafe wins over-30 softball title

Turnpike Café is the newest champion of the Canton Over 30 Softball League, after beating regular season leader Loughran Electric in dramatic fashion in the finals on Sunday, August 3, at Devoll Field.

Turnpike Café, which finished second in the regular season behind Loughran, won the deciding game 9-8 in a walk-off win, overcoming a three-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh to capture the title. Turnpike also won the first game of the series 19-9.

Loughran, which finished 10-2 in the regular season, had advanced to the finals by beating American Legion 19-10 in the finals of the losers’ bracket.
