Canton Cultural Council seeks funding proposals
By Canton CitizenThe Canton Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline for organizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community. All applications must be mailed to Lisa Campbell, Treasurer, Canton Cultural Council, Canton Town Hall, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
According to council spokesperson Kathy Fox Alfano, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Canton — including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, performances, workshops and lectures.
The Canton Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 local cultural councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the commonwealth. The LCC program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
This year, the Canton Cultural Council will distribute about $4,300 in grants. Previously funded projects include: Canton Choral Society, Canton Writes, Canton Community Theatre, Arts Festival at Massasoit, Mass Audubon’s Museum of American Bird Art, pastel painting at the Canton Public Library, and many more cultural programs in town. The Canton Cultural Council seeks projects that benefit a broad spectrum of Canton residents.
Application forms and more information about the LCC program are available online at www.mass-culture.org/lcc_public.aspx. Please email Kathy at kfoxalfano@gmail.com with questions regarding the application process.
