Former Bulldog named CC Wrestler of the Week

Canton resident Quinn Merrigan, a freshman on the Gettysburg College wrestling team, was named the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week on Monday, November 24.
Merrigan helped Gettysburg secure three victories at the McDaniel College Duals on November 22. Competing at 149 pounds, he pinned each of his first two foes from West Virginia University of Technology (3:39) and the University of Scranton (2:51), with the latter decision marking his fifth consecutive victory by fall. He closed the day with an 8-4 decision against Penn State University-Mont Alto.
Merrigan has won his last six matches to improve to 8-2 this season.
A 2014 Canton High School graduate, Merrigan set numerous program records during his four years with the Bulldogs and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers in CHS history. He won back-to-back Division 3 state titles (138 lbs.) in 2013 and 2014 and finished second at both the All-State and All-New England tournaments as a senior.
Gettysburg (4-0) next competes at the Messiah College Petrofes Invitational on December 5-6.
