Selectmen’s handling of roundabout should cost them votes
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
I would like to thank Susan Scheide for her letter printed in the November 20 issue of the Canton Citizen that essentially stated what everyone is thinking about the Pleasant Street rotary/roundabout. Who benefited from this project?
I believe it is the selectmen’s purpose to represent the interests of the people of Canton. They obviously weren’t representing those of us who live on Pleasant Street when they went against the wishes of the neighborhood to approve this project. This rotary/roundabout wasn’t just unnecessary and a waste of taxpayer money; it is an unappreciated traffic inconvenience and potential danger that the residents now have to live with every single day.
As a registered voter who actually votes, I plan to make my displeasure known when the selectmen who voted for this come up for reelection (even if it means writing in “none of the above” for those who run unopposed). It may not make much of a difference, but I encourage my neighbors to do the same. If the selectmen don’t represent the people of our neighborhood, they don’t deserve our votes.
Sincerely,
Christine Hogan
