The awards were presented at the chamber’s 121st Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner held on January 22. Dedham Medical — led by Canton resident Roberta Zysman — was named the Large Business of the Year, while Marathon took home Small Business of the Year honors.

The NVCC’s Business of the Year awards are presented to the member businesses that demonstrate outstanding achievement in general management, employee relations, business growth, business innovation, and community and social responsibility.

The large business winner, Dedham Medical, has been serving the region since 1937 and recently expanded into a new facility in Norwood, which features an urgent care unit that has created new jobs for local residents.

“Dedham Medical Associates has been a strong supporter of the chamber as well as demonstrated deep involvement within the community,” said NVCC President Tom O’Rourke. “They regularly participate in many local health and community awareness programs; they sponsor farmer’s markets, sports teams, and career awareness programs in local high schools.”

The award was presented by last year’s winner, Chuck Barresi of Universal Technical Institute, to Zysman, Dedham Medical CEO and an NVCC board member.

This year’s Small Business of the Year, Marathon Physical Therapy, was founded in 2004 and recently celebrated its newest location in Canton at 100B Washington Street. Marathon’s licensed, certified athletic trainers and physical therapists are committed to quality care and provide skilled services for pelvic and women’s health, orthopedic conditions, endurance and youth athletes, and dance medicine.

Marathon’s Adam Goodrich is also an active member of the chamber and is a founding member of the NVCC’s Health and Wellness Alliance.

“Marathon is committed to community outreach programs by investing staff and resources into numerous charitable organizations,” said O’Rourke. “By sharing their health and fitness knowledge and by making corporate contributions, they are helping to build better and healthier communities.”

The award was presented by last year’s winner, Charlotte Walsh of Charles River Running, to Alex McKinney, Marathon’s director of services.

NVCC’s Annual Meeting was held in the Tiffany Ballroom of the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood. Attended by over 200 guests, the dinner featured special guest speaker Steve DiFillippo, chef and owner of the award-winning Davio’s.
