Canton PD chief featured in national publication

Ken Berkowitz, chief of the Canton Police Department and current president of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC), is a featured author in the latest edition of The Police Chief, the official publication of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

In a piece entitled “Regional Partnerships: The Greater Boston area’s approach to large-scale security,” Berkowitz outlines the benefits of regional policing and details the important role that regional law enforcement councils such as MetroLEC have played in the response to large-scale events and incidents, including the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013. The article also includes a sidebar entitled “Investing in Regional Policing,” where Berkowitz details the steps needed to start up and grow a regional program.
