News Notes: Another roof collapse reported on Will Dr.

By

Police, fire and public utilities officials responded to a roof collapse at 135 Will Drive on Friday, February 27, around 12:15 p.m. The portion of the building impacted by the collapse is vacant. No injuries were reported.

The rear part of the building, used by food distributor DPI-Mid-Atlantic, was not impacted; however, that portion of the building had suffered a partial roof collapse earlier in the month. DPI moved its operation to another portion of the building while repairs are being made. Fire Chief Charlie Doody said a 50×50-foot section of the roof collapsed and the damage is estimated at $50,000.

Building Commissioner Ed Walsh and a structural engineer responded to the scene, as did the owner of the building. NStar, Columbia Gas, and the Canton Water Department shut off all utilities to the front section of the building.
