Born in Boston, he was raised in Mission Hill. He attended Mission Hill Grammar School, St. Mary’s Seminary, and graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1976. He worked for the Boston Globe for 38 years as a mailer and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 1, retiring in 1986. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam eras …
