Police, Fire depts. respond to 2 heroin overdoses

By

Police Chief Ken Berkowitz and Fire Chief Charlie Doody agreed at last week’s selectmen’s meeting that there should be more public awareness of heroin overdoses in the community. Each week, the Citizen will report on the number of overdoses and administration of Narcan (an opiate reversal drug) as reported by both departments.

For the week of June 29 through July 5, police officers and CFD paramedics responded to two incidents of heroin overdoses and administered Narcan to both victims, ages 27 and 40. They both responded favorably to the treatment. From the beginning of June to July 5, police and paramedics responded to five heroin overdoses, including one fatality.
