Open invitation from the Senior Men’s Club
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
Hey guys — yes, I am talking to you. Do you have “cabin fever?” Tired of reading, television, and the same four walls? Would you like to see some different faces and talk about something other than family, food prices, relatives and neighbors? Here is a suggestion. The Senior Men’s Club is a group of guys, mostly retired, who get together once a month, spend some time talking over coffee and donuts, listen to a guest speaker, get caught up on town gossip and upcoming trips — optional of course — listen to a few jokes, and leave laughing.
Yeah, I know it’s a bother. You have to put on your coat and drive to the new Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. Come on guys, it’s worth it. We have had great speakers — Chuck Hogan of “The Town” fame, town officials giving us an inside look at the finances and problems we face, a park ranger telling us about the Emerald Necklace and the USS Constitution in Charlestown, sports celebrities recalling their experiences in baseball, hockey, or whatever. Something for everybody!
A day trip is planned for most months. We have visited a number of great museums, enjoyed boat trips around Boston Harbor, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and lunches with our kind of entertainment — singing and dancing to the Big Band sounds, all activities we are sure you would enjoy. So you have three options: Call 781-828-6378, come to the Senior Center on the third Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m., or stay home and miss all the fun. Your choice.
Sincerely,
Tom Hayes, Secretary
