For the third time in the past four seasons, the Canton High varsity volleyball team is headed to the Division 2 central sectional finals after defeating Medway 3-0 at home Thursday night. Pat Cawley’s Bulldogs (17-4) have now won all six sets they have played in the tournament thus far, including Monday night’s straight-set victory over No. 6 Milton.
Canton will face a tough test in the sectional championship as they travel to Hudson High School on Saturday night to face the top-seeded Westboro Rangers (18-2), who advanced with a 3-0 win over No. 4 Hopkinton. Canton and Westboro last met in the 2013 sectional title game, with the Rangers coming away with the trophy after a 3-1 win. The two schools also squared off in the 2012 sectional semis, and that year Canton got the better of the matchup en route to winning its first sectional championship in program history.
