Born in Hyde Park, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1944, where he was class president and captain of the football team. John was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and worked as a foreman for the Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton. He also worked as a janitor for St. James Church in Stoughton, as a school crossing guard for the town of Canton, and drove a bus for the Grow Workshop in Stoughton …
