Year-round plan proposed for Pine Street facility

Selectmen are likely to approve a consolidation plan that would bring the TV-computer (CRT) collection trailer to the Pine Street leaf and yard waste facility and make the facility open year round.

Town Administrator Bill Friel said the consolidation will create a single stop at the Pine Street station where residents can dump their yard waste, drop off old televisions and computers, and deposit bulk items and appliances. Residents will still pay an annual yard waste fee of $10, and access to the CRT bin or bulk waste drop-off area will require proof of residency, such as a driver’s license.

Currently the CRT trailer is located inside a locked fence at the DPW garage on Bolivar Street, and Friel said it is too cumbersome for the DPW to handle. Friel said an attendant will be on site at the Pine Street location to prevent nonresidents from depositing items and to ensure that televisions and computers are packed appropriately.
