Planning Board chair will not seek reelection
By Canton CitizenChris Connolly, current chairman of the Canton Planning Board, has announced that he will not seek reelection in the April town election.
A two-term incumbent, Connolly was first elected to the board in 2006 and was reelected in 2011. He operates a private law practice in Canton, specializing in residential and commercial real estate transactions, permitting, corporate law, and business litigation. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross and a JD from Suffolk University Law School.
Connolly is the only Planning Board member whose term expires this year. Also on the 2016 ballot are one seat each on the Board of Selectmen, Board of Assessors, Board of Health, and Housing Authority, two seats on the School Committee, and three seats on the Library Board of Trustees.
The Planning Board and Housing Authority carry five-year terms while all other offices carry three-year terms.
Nomination papers are available in the Town Clerk’s office until 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12. Those seeking office must obtain the signatures of at least 50 registered voters in Canton, and completed papers must be returned by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16.
