BOS issues clarification on proposed truck bans

By

Last week, selectmen voted to send a proposed truck exclusion on Dedham and Chapman streets to the state Department of Transportation for review. If MassDOT approves the measures, selectmen will hold a public hearing and decide when it will be implemented. Selectman Bob Burr said it is not contingent on when MassDOT finishes the new off ramp from I-95 to Dedham Street, which is scheduled to begin construction in the late spring. If the state rejects the proposed truck bans, selectmen can appeal the decision but MassDOT has the final say on the decision. If the state accepts both truck bans, then selectmen can implement them after giving proper notification.
