Head track coach Anna Amico said this year’s team is the biggest in recent school history, with a combined 155 participants between the boys and girls rosters.

“We have many kids who are new to track but are athletes in other sports, and we will look to them as well as to our veterans for our points this year,” said Amico.

Captains for the boys team are Jason Kaplan, Mark Clancy, Pat Hession, Woanyen Mahn, and Courtland Priest. Captains for the girls include Samantha Koplik, Catherine Song, Tanya Bastien, Wonser Mahn, Lena Touzos, and Kelly Dever.

The girls roster features a strong group of veterans as well as many talented newcomers, as the lady Bulldogs look to improve on last year’s 3-2 record.

Song will anchor a distance crew that includes Olivia Stevens, James Polsgrove, Sarah Collins, Andrea McNeil, Lilah Sullivan, and Maggie Dunn.

The strongest part of the team may be its sprinters, which includes Hannah Link, Selena Cho, Nicole Brown, Bastien, Tamarra Auguste, Wonser Mahn, Touzos, Micaela Duffy, Prisca Joseph, Erika Lum, and Jimisha Williams.

Koplik and Claire Belisle will be competing in the hurdles, while Dever, Amber Carringnton, Link, and Nicole Poole will anchor the throwing events. Competing in the jumps will be Cho, Koplik, Hannah Jankowski, Bastien, and Belisle.

The boys team lost to Oliver Ames last week but will be looking to break into the win column after last year’s 0-5 campaign. The boys have added some new talent to the squad, but the question is whether they will have enough depth to cover all of the events.

Manning the distance events are Clancy, Priest, Jack Healey, Owen Guerini, Paolo Ruggeri, and Mike Mazzola. The Bulldogs also have a strong crew of sprinters, led by Woanyen Mahn, Kaplan, Will Amico, Chris Milne, Hession, Kevin Messinger, Oren Vishny, Evan Tondre, Dan Alice, and Muhammad Sambo.

Competing in the hurdles are Sean Mitchell, John Guenthner, Matt Floyd, Riley McDonnell, Jude Albert, and Jake Connolly. Ian Ozer, Ben Mendillo, Jude Albert, and Adam Feeney will compete in the throwing events, while Mitchell, Woanyen Mahn, Albert, Tondre, and Miles Roderick will compete in the jumps.

“With the biggest team in recent history that has many talented athletes, I am excited for this season and looking forward to seeing where their hard work will take them,” said Amico.

The next meet for both teams is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, at Milford starting at 4 p.m.
