CHS alumni graduate from State Police Academy
By Canton CitizenTwo Canton High School alumni were among 158 new troopers who recently joined the ranks of the Massachusetts State Police following a graduation ceremony at the DCU Center in Worcester on Friday, April 1.
Ryan Sceviour ’07 and Christopher Sullo ’08 were both part of the 82nd Recruit Training Troop that entered the State Police Academy in New Braintree in October 2015. They successfully completed 24 weeks of intensive and rigorous training that included classroom work, physical fitness, defensive tactics, patrol procedures, traffic safety, emergency driving, use of firearms and less lethal weapons, first responder medical aid, and other disciplines.
Prior to entering the academy, Sceviour served for a two and a half years as a patrolman with the Canton Police Department and previously worked for the Brewster Police Department. He graduated from UMass Amherst in 2011 and was the youngest member of the Plymouth Municipal Police Academy’s Class of 2012.
Sullo, meanwhile, is following in the footsteps of his father, Paul, a lieutenant assigned to Troop H headquarters in South Boston. A former collegiate track star, Chris won multiple state and regional high jump titles while at Mass Maritime Academy and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in emergency management.
The younger Sullo is currently assigned to the South Boston Barracks while Sceviour is stationed at the Millbury Barracks. They will complete three months of field training with a senior trooper before receiving their permanent assignments.
