Canton police probe golf course, house break-ins
By Mike BergerPolice announced that they have juvenile suspects in connection with a previous break-in at the Milton Hoosic Club but no suspects yet in a break-in that occurred early Saturday morning, May 21, at the Wampatuck Country Club in which a safe was taken. Police are also looking at a non-resident adult person of interest in connection with attempted house breaks reported early Sunday morning on Lawrence and Sherman streets. Nothing was taken in either instance.
CFD overdose report
The Canton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department reported that the victim of an overdose death that occurred earlier this month was a woman in her 20s. It was the town’s first fatal overdose in 2016. For the week of May 16-22, EMS Coordinator Jamie Meier reported one overdose, involving a male in his 20s.
Mulch fires extinguished
Firefighters extinguished two outdoor mulch fires on May 16 — one at 30 Dan Road at 2:40 p.m. and another at 965 Randolph Street around 4:30 p.m. No damages were reported. Firefighters also responded to a mutual aid call on May 16 for an outdoor fire that extended to a shed and porch on Glen Echo Road in Stoughton. Four Canton firefighters assisted Stoughton and Avon in extinguishing the fire.
