Fire & Police News: EMTs treat two overdose victims

By

Jamie Meier, EMS coordinator for the Canton Fire Department, reported that EMTs successfully administered Narcan to two overdose victims last week. One victim was a male non-resident in his 30s and the other was a Canton woman in her 20s.

Firefighters free worker trapped in elevator

Firefighters were called to the Brightview senior living facility, currently under construction at 125 Turnpike Street, twice within a 30-minute period on Monday, June 13, for a stuck elevator with a passenger onboard. The first time the person was able to get out without any assistance, but the second time firefighters had to use an elevator wrench to open the door. The worker was freed within 15 minutes. Firefighters advised Brightview to close the elevator until repairs were made.

Dry conditions lead to brush fires

The recent dry conditions in the area caused several brush fires in the past week, particularly on Sunday, June 19. Around 10:45 a.m. on that day, the Sharon Fire Tower notified firefighters of heavy smoke in the Forge Pond area. Six firefighters responded and found a brush fire in the rear of 216 Bolivar Street near the railroad tracks. A few hours later, firefighters responded to a brush fire near 235 Turnpike Street. There was no building damage reported in either instance.
