Flieger earned undergraduate and master’s degrees at Truman State University in Missouri, a master’s at Harvard Graduate School of Education, and his doctorate (EdD) at the University of Massachusetts. During his tenure with the Catholic School Office in the Archdiocese of Boston, Flieger was instrumental in increasing the level of cooperation between the Archdiocese’s autonomous schools and the Catholic School Office. Flieger’s leadership and creativity contributed to successful outcomes in a number of challenged schools.

St. John’s School recently launched a strategic planning initiative, Vision 2020, with the assistance of Partners of Mission, a Catholic education consulting firm with a nationwide staff and client base. As the school and parish communities prepare to educate future generations of students, St. John’s is excited to welcome someone with Flieger’s education, intellect, leadership, energy and vision.

The school is also grateful to Mr. Sean Richardson for his leadership during the last four years. Richardson’s collegial demeanor, technological expertise, and spiritual values are among the accomplishments for which the school community will be forever grateful.

Since 1883, St. John the Evangelist School has provided countless students with an outstanding and challenging education that lasts a lifetime. One hundred percent of its students are able to attend their high school of choice. The school has an enrollment of approximately 225 students in preschool through grade 8 and seeks to educate the whole child: spiritually, intellectually and emotionally.

Recent efforts involve STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) in all grades to prepare students for 21st century practices. Spanish as a second language is taught in grades 5-8 and physical education, art, music and library is mandatory for all grades.

St. John’s is led by experienced and Massachusetts state-certified childhood educators who also take part in age-appropriate service projects with the children of each grade. The teachers strive to instill in-depth subject knowledge along with Christian values. The school is supported by St. John the Evangelist Church and is a critical ministry of the parish.
