Canton officers aid Boston Police in firearms arrest
By Mike BergerTwo Canton police officers aided Boston police last week in arresting two Boston residents — one on firearm-related charges and the other on an outstanding warrant issued in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred last August in Roxbury.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the Boston Police Fugitive Unit notified Canton that they had stopped a vehicle outside Windsor Woods Way after observing Fabian Gonzalez, 25, who was wanted by Boston police, enter a vehicle as a passenger with two other individuals.
Police notified Canton that the operator of the vehicle, Anthony Rivera, 21, was carrying a firearm. Officers Eli Anderson and Sean Becker responded and aided Boston police in searching Rivera. They found a .45 caliber Kahr Arms semiautomatic weapon and took Rivera into custody.
Rivera was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, defacing the firearm serial number, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possessing a firearm without an FID card.
Boston Police took Gonzalez into custody for the outstanding warrant. The warrant, according to the BPD, includes charges for assault to murder, aggravated assault and battery, and firearm-related charges relative to the shooting of three victims in the area of Academy Terrace in Roxbury.
