By Canton CitizenWilliam J. Hommel Sr., 89, of Canton, formerly of West Roxbury, died peacefully at home October 23, 2016.
The son of Alfred and Helen, he was the youngest of six children. A proud Marine Corps and World War II veteran, he also owned Joseph L. Cronin Cap and Gown Company with his wife.
A metallurgist for many years, he was the devoted husband to the late Joan T. Hommel (McDonough) for 68 years. Loving father of Edward W. Hommel and his wife, Bella, of Nova Scotia, John G. Hommel and his wife, Valerie, of Boston, Nancy M. Donoghue and her husband, Daniel, of North Weymouth, William J.
