Feeney, Mary F.
By Canton CitizenMary F. Feeney (Donohue) of Canton passed away at home December 4 surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, she attended Girls Latin and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, Class of 1945. Mary went on to earn a B.S. from Emmanuel College in 1949, an M.Ed. from Boston College in 1954, and an M.S. in special education from Simmons College in 1978.
Mary was an active member of the Alumni Affairs for both Notre Dame Academy and Emmanuel College and was a member and former state recording secretary for Alpha Delta Kappa. She worked for the Boston Public Schools as a first grade teacher and a special education administrator for over 50 years before retiring.
She was an active member of St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton where she was a Eucharistic minister, lector, and CCD teacher. She was an elected member of the Democratic Town Committee in Canton and attended many of the state conventions, including the 2016 convention in Lowell.
Beloved wife of the late William J. Mother of Kevin T. and William F. Feeney, both of Canton. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday (today) from 3-7 p.m. Funeral mass in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton Friday at 10 a.m. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
