CHS singer performs with All-National Chorus
By Canton CitizenCanton High School senior Antonino “Nino” Ruggeri, an accomplished vocalist and a member of the CHS chorus and drama club, traveled to Grapevine, Texas recently to perform with the National Association for Music Education’s prestigious All-National Chorus.
Selection to one of NAfME’s All-National Honors Ensembles is based on an audition process and is an honor reserved for the top performing high school musicians in the country. For Ruggeri, a tenor, this marked the next big step for him after previously auditioning and being chosen for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association Southeast District Festival and the MMEA All-State Chorus.
As part of the All-National Chorus, Ruggeri rehearsed and performed during the four-day NAfME National Conference, held November 10-13 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. This year’s All-National Chorus was directed by Dr. Anton Armstrong, the Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College and conductor of the acclaimed St. Olaf Choir.
