Critic of Trump voters should practice what she preaches

Dear Editor:

I’m writing in regards to the December 8 story in the Citizen entitled “Residents, officials take stand against hate.” I find it ironic that Kathleen Howley, who claims to want everyone in Canton to feel safe, just called approximately half of the voters of the U.S. bigots. She says she personally blames Donald Trump for the actions of the few supporters who have behaved very badly in recent weeks, which is absurd. Some of us felt we had no choice but to vote for Mr. Trump given the alternative. I expect no one who showed up at her meeting and publicly supported our next president would have been made to feel safe and supported. So really, only the people who think the way she thinks are part of the “inclusive” social climate.
