DCR to hold ice rink feasibility meetings in Canton, Norwood
By Canton CitizenThe state Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance will hold a public meeting to discuss the South Shore Ice Rink Feasibility Study on Monday, February 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room of the Canton Public Library.
The DCR has commissioned the feasibility study to explore options for rebuilding Metropolis Skating Rink, which was badly damaged when the roof collapsed in February 2015. The rink is owned by the state and operated by the town of Canton in accordance with a long-term lease agreement.
For those who are unable to attend the February 13 meeting, the DCR has scheduled a second meeting on Thursday, February 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Norwood Middle School auditorium.
Included in the presentation at both public meetings will be information on the scope and schedule for the feasibility study, as well as information on potential sites for the ice rink. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers and public input.
The presentation will be viewable shortly after the meetings at mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/public-outreach/public-meetings. Public comments may be submitted to the DCR after the public meetings either online at mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/public-outreach/submit-public-comments, or by writing to the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Public Outreach, 251 Causeway St., 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02114. The deadline for receipt of comments is at the close of business on Thursday, March 2.
