Women’s marchers: No apology needed
By Canton CitizenEditor’s note: In response to a recent Canton Citizen story on the Women’s March on Washington, reader Larry Overlan requested an apology for statements made about President Donald Trump. Below are the responses from the two women who were featured in the original story.

Dear Editor:
Larry Overlan, I will be happy to apologize to Donald Trump when he apologizes to me for bragging about grabbing women by the p**** (his vulgar and disrespectful term), for his brazen lies, for his contempt for the truth as he invents alternative facts, for disregarding the fact that the planet is getting hotter, for mimicking people with disabilities, for calling Mexicans rapists, for lying about Obama’s citizenship, for banning people from certain Muslim-majority countries — omitting the countries that actually produced the 9/11 terrorists — and for getting cozy with the Russian dictator. And that’s just for starters.
While I wait for his apology, I will be using every free minute I have to resist this tyrant. I beg all citizens to do the same. Our future as a nation depends on it.

Dear Editor:
In response to Mr. Overlan’s request for an apology from me, I would ask Mr. Overlan to reread the January 19 article on the women’s march. In that article I did express many concerns with Mr. Trump’s presidency, including his views on women, immigrants, Muslims, and climate change. At no time, however, did I “echo” the statement that Mr. Trump was “dangerous and disgusting.”
Mr. Overlan criticized me for being a bad example to the children of Canton. While I did express my negative opinion of the president, an opinion Mr. Overlan clearly did not like, Mr. Overlan attributed a statement to me that I did not make. Who is setting the bad example?
