School fundraiser to benefit Hansen 2nd grader
By Canton CitizenOn Friday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m., the Hansen Elementary School CAPT will host a “Parents Night Out” community fundraiser at Canton High School to benefit Madi Bergstrom, a Hansen second grader who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for the third time in her young life.
Eight-year-old Madi and her family recently returned home from Pennsylvania after undergoing six weeks of treatment. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Madi and her family.
The community event is open to all Canton elementary students (K-5) and offers parents a chance to have a night out while their kids enjoy pizza, drinks, and an assortment of activities under the supervision of Canton elementary school teachers. Activities include drama, freeze dance, arts and crafts, sports, games, and more.
The Hansen CAPT is hoping for a large turnout as they look to show their support for Madi and her family during this challenging time.
“Madi and her mom remind me that if we have our health, we have it all,” said Hansen teacher Andrea Moore, who is organizing the event along with Hansen CAPT President Cynthia DeVito. “Madi has a laugh that you can’t help but feel joy from, the wit of a teen, an ‘I got this’ attitude, and a mom who is so incredible, words to describe her escape me. We are the lucky ones to have them in Canton.”
Tickets for “Parents Night Out” are $20 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. Reservations and payment must be made by Monday, April 3. For more information, contact Cynthia DeVito at hansencaptpresident@gmail.com.
