Born and raised in Rutland, VT, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Bernice (Buswell) Matt. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield and worked as an RN at Carney Hospital in Dorchester for many years before retiring.
