Historical Society to host cookout and open house
By Canton CitizenCome and get some Canton history and a hot dog. On Sunday, July 2, from 12-3 p.m., the Canton Historical Society will host a cookout on the society’s front lawn at 1400 Washington Street. The public is invited to come and enjoy a hot dog, a drink, a Hoodsie, and a tour of the society’s museum, all for a donation of $5.
The Canton Historical Society is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve the history of Canton. It acquires and preserves collections that reflect the town’s 200-plus years of history, going back to the drafting of the Suffolk Resolves, the birth of the modern railroad, Paul Revere and his copper industry on the banks of the Neponset River, the oldest cemetery in America, and the Ponkapoag Indian Praying Town of 1657.
So join your fellow Cantonites on July 2 for good food, good company, and good stories from members of the Historical Society.
