Police arrest suspect in July home invasion case
By Mike BergerCanton police announced a major development in the investigation of a July 18 home invasion on Arboretum Way.
On Thursday, October 5, Canton and Milton police, along with members of the Boston Police Department Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit, arrested Eriberto Genao, 22, of Mattapan. He is one of several suspects wanted in connection with the armed home invasion in which an elderly resident was pistol-whipped, sustaining serious injuries, while a second resident suffered lacerations and subsequently suffered a heart attack. Genao was charged with home invasion, mayhem, and other offenses and is being held at the Norfolk County House of Correction.
Police are actively looking for as many as three other suspects in the incident. Police determined that three suspects, all believed to be Hispanic males, forcibly entered the residence and two of them were observed to be carrying weapons.
Police Chief Ken Berkowitz said the suspects asked specifically for a person’s name. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle believed to be a black Chrysler Pacifica driven by a fourth suspect.
Also working with Canton police on the investigation are members of the Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
