Brenner, Benjamin A.
By Canton CitizenBenjamin Brenner, “It’s Ben; don’t call me Benjamin!” of Canton, formerly of Boston’s West End, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the age of 89.
Son of the late Julius and Anna (Wyzanski) Brenner; brother of the late George, Solomon and Sidney; husband of 59 years to Adelle (Koretsky) Brenner; father of Gary, Brenda and her longtime companion, Victor; and best buddy to his recently deceased cat, Sid; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben served in the army during the Korean War. Following his return, his dedication to clients was his passion during 60 years in the financial services industry. He was an active member and coach for the George Brenner Association and the Brenner-Hawk Group from the West End, the members of which convened yearly since inception. He was an active member of Temple Beth Abraham of Canton, as well as a mentor and coach for USY basketball, and a Boston Celtics fan.
A lifelong patron and supporter of the arts, Ben began performing with community and professional theaters throughout the Boston area beginning in the late 1990s. He was a 25-year member on the board of directors for Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park.
Chapel services at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington Street in Canton, on Thursday, February 1, at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Independent Workmens Circle Cemetery, 776 Baker Street in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the West End House Camp, 105 Allston St., Allston, MA 02134, for the Adelle and Benjamin Brenner Camp Scholarship Fund, which sends worthy candidates to the West End House summer camp in Maine, or to Riverside Theatre Works School for the Performing Arts, 45 Fairmount Ave., Hyde Park, MA 02136, or online at www.rtwboston.org.
