Carnes, Ann
By Canton CitizenAnn (McCallion) Carnes of Canton, formerly of Charlestown, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on March 3.
Beloved wife of the late William M. Carnes. Mother of Mary R. Keable and her husband, Michael, of Oakland, RI, William M. Carnes and his wife, Nancy, of Hopkinton, Susan E. Carnes of Boston, and John A. Carnes and his wife, Angela, of Burlington. Also survived by her grandchildren: Sean, Lauren and Matthew Carnes, Jacquelyn, Catherine and Michael Keable, and Sarah and Kevin Carnes.
A retired Boston Public Schools educator, Ann earned her master’s degree in education from Salem State College and her undergraduate degree from Boston State College. She was the past co-president of the Canton Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), served for several years as a judge for the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage essay contest, and was a member of the Canton Garden Club. Ann enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her summer home in Manomet. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
