Callahan, Edward J.
By Canton CitizenEdward J. Callahan, 74, of Stoughton, formerly of Canton, passed away June 4 at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Born in Norwood, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School where he was on the track team and was known as the best dancer in his graduating class. He went on to attend Massasoit Community College and worked at the Mass. Hospital School in Canton in the Adaptive Engineering Department for many years. Ed has lived in Stoughton since 1990 and was a member of Wampatuck Country Club and the Canton Town Club. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Canton Town Club Softball League. Ed loved children, and all the Canton children, now adults, will remember him as the guy who brought Santa to their house on the fire truck on Christmas Eve.
Beloved husband of Cheryl E. (Branagan). Father of Kevin D. Callahan and his wife, Robyn, of Whitman and E.J. Callahan and his wife, Anna, of Eastham. Grandfather of Teresa A., Gabryelle C., Samuel C., Sofia G., and Michael E. Callahan. Brother of Nancy Lewis of Lakeville and the late Charles, Robert and William Callahan.
Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Friday at 10 a.m. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Friday prior to the mass from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
